Biography

Dr. Erica Volk, ND grew up in Kelowna, BC, and never planned to become a doctor—until her own health journey led her to naturopathic medicine. After earning a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English from the University of Victoria, she experienced a life-changing recovery from long-standing irritable bowel syndrome under the care of a functional medicine doctor. That experience sparked a passion for helping others uncover and treat the true causes underlying chronic, and “permanent” health problems.

Dr. Volk went on to complete her four-year naturopathic medical training at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon, and began practicing in Kelowna in 2017. Before opening her practice, she spent a year working with individuals with Down syndrome, autism, and other developmental disabilities—a cause close to her heart as a caregiver to her older brother with Down syndrome.

Drawing on her own experiences with complex health issues, including mold illness, chronic digestive problems, PTSD, and hormonal concerns, Dr. Volk brings deep compassion and understanding to her work. Her current clinical focus includes digestive health, mental health, environmental illness (such as mold exposure), trauma recovery, and burnout. She has also completed additional training in Somatic Experiencing Therapy to better support patients in addressing the effects of trauma on physical health.

Dr. Volk is licensed and regulated by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) and is a member of both the BC Naturopathic Doctors (BCND) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).

Outside of her practice, she enjoys dancing, kayaking, hiking, yoga, cross-country skiing, crafting, cooking, and spending time with her dogs, Rosie and Ginger.
