Adult immunization has been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization recommends the continuation of immunization during the pandemic with mitigation of risks of COVID-19 transmission. To improve vaccine uptake during this time, practical strategies that address barriers and challenges to adult immunization are key.
Join pharmacist Ajit Johal and family physician Dr. Christine Palmay in this interactive session where you will be able to:
- Describe the factors that challenge immunization, including complacency, confidence and convenience
- Understand the current guidance available to support immunization and best practices for patient education
- Apply counseling strategies to overcome barriers and challenges associated with vaccine uptake, especially in the context of COVID-19
